Episode 3: Death
Litu realized that he was in a serious mess. Being a science student, these things made him think deeply. In the morning, he planned to go check out the mysterious creature or thing from another world. Thoughts of this, coupled with worrying about Neil, made it difficult for him to sleep. Not wanting to drag Abhi into this mess, he decided not to tell him. As Litu's anxiety grew, his body temperature began to rise again. He texted Neil, but the messages only showed a single tick, leaving him in anxious anticipation for the long night to end. Each tick of the clock only added to his panic.
The next morning, Neil
called Litu, “What happened, bro? You texted me like a hundred times. Is
everything okay?”
Litu: “Where are you?”
Neil: “I’m still out. I’ll
be back home this afternoon.”
Litu: “Okay! Come back
carefully. Call me immediately when you reach home.”
Neil: “What happened? Tell
me.”
Litu: “Just come home. We’ll
talk about it then. Okay, bye.”
In the afternoon, at 3:15
PM:
Neil: “What happened? You
look pale.”
Litu: “I’m going to show you
something. Don’t panic, I’m with you, okay?”
Neil: “What are you talking
about?”
Litu: “Just look at these
photos.”
Neil first looked surprised,
then shocked, and finally excited. Seeing the sparkle in Neil’s eyes, Litu
said, “Listen, vampire freak, this is real. You need to deal with this, and
your life might be in danger.”
Neil: “There goes my
weekend.”
Litu: “Are you even
listening?”
Neil: “Yeah, I got it—danger
and all. Let’s go there and find out.”
Litu: “We’ll go, but hold your horses. What kind of trouble have I gotten into?”

The Mist .... |
Outside the college gate:
Neil, Litu, and Abhi were
standing together. Litu had a bag full of religious items, Abhi had a bag full
of snacks, and Neil held a torch. Wait, what? Anyway.
Litu: “Why did you call
Abhi?”
Neil: “Come on! He’s a
member of the team.”
Litu: “I know, but why put
his life in danger?”
Abhi: “Danger? My life? He
said your life is at stake!”
Litu: “What?”
Neil: “Shut up! If anything
happens, we’ll handle it together.”
Litu: “That’s what I’m
afraid of.”
Neil: “Nothing will happen.
Let’s go.”
They reached the benches,
and Abhi sat down on one.
Litu: “Are you mad?”
Abhi: “What?”
Litu: “Anything could
happen!”
Abhi: “Should I stop
breathing?”
Neil: “Guys, we’re on a
mission. Let’s stay focused.”
Litu: “He’s in a different
world now. Your life is in serious danger. You might die, you know that,
right?”
Neil smiled and said, “Only
Abhi dies in my dreams, okay? Chill.”
Litu: “This isn’t funny.”
Abhi: “Why do you always
kill me in your dreams?”
Neil: “I don’t do it
intentionally; it just happens. And I don’t kill you; the villain does.”
Abhi: “Yeah, but it’s your
dream. So technically, you killed me.”
Litu: “If you guys don’t
stop, I’ll kill you both.”
Neil: “That’s not gonna
work. I have an idea. Let’s call that thing.”
Litu: “How?”
Abhi: “Why?”
Neil: “I’ve seen it in
movies; they go like, ‘You bad soul, contact us.’”
Litu: “This is stupid. And
if we call it bad, it definitely won’t do any good.”
Neil: “As if it will if we
call it good. And how do we even know it’s a soul?”
Abhi: “Let’s try it then.”
Litu: “Wait! Let me get some
religious stuff out of the bag.”
Neil: “What if it’s an
atheist?”
Abhi: “Good point.”
Litu: “Then we’re dead!!!”
Suddenly, Neil shouted,
“Hey! Bad soul, contact us!” several times.
Litu: “We’re all going to
die.”
Neil: “Nothing’s happening!”
Then they heard a cracking
sound from a branch of a tree just above their heads. They were so terrified
that they couldn’t even look up. When they heard it again, they finally looked
up. What they saw was enough to make them realize the trouble they were in—a
shadowy, black creature with glowing eyes was staring at them. Then it jumped
towards them. Their entire lives flashed before their eyes, and everything went
white as mist.
