The Adventures of Neil and Litu S1:EP4

Episode 4: Heaven

Neil: “Wow! What’s with the smoke? Is this heaven? Am I dead? No! Man, I had plans.”

Litu: “Well, it doesn’t feel like it.”

Neil: “What are you doing in my heaven?”

Litu: “Seriously? That’s your concern? You should be asking if you're dead too!”

Neil: “Are you going to argue in heaven too?”

Litu: “This looks like a movie scene. I didn’t think heaven would be real. And if it is, why does it look like this? How did people know about it?”

Neil: “Maybe they were reborn.”

Litu: “As if I’m going to believe that.”

Neil: “Hey, you believe in heaven but not reincarnation? Hypocrite.”

Litu: “Something’s odd. I feel something at my feet.”

Litu: “Oh shit! Abhi!”

Neil: “He’s here too? This is a perfect reunion!”

Litu: “Shut up and help me. He’s not moving.”

Neil: “His pulse is fine, just unconscious. Slap him!”

Litu: “What??”

Neil: “I think he’s half-alive and half-dead, like Schrödinger’s cat.”

Litu: “Whose cat?”

Neil: “Never mind.”

Neil patted Abhi’s cheek: “Hey! Abhi! Abhi!”

Litu shouted at the body, “Don’t die on me!”

Suddenly, Abhi opened his eyes with a gasp, caught his breath, and muttered, “I... I’m... I’m hungry.”

Neil: “Welcome aboard in heaven!” and hugged him.

Litu: “That’s still debatable.”

Abhi: “What did I miss?”

Neil: “Earth, my friend! Earth.”

Litu: “What is this place, actually? It’s all dense smoke and white.”

Neil: “And fragrant.”

The mist slowly began to fade, and the college campus came back into view. The sun set as soon as the mist disappeared.

Abhi: “It was just mist.”

Litu: “Yeah,” (softly).

Neil: “Run!”

Abhi and Litu: “What?”

Neil: “RUN!!!!”

Walk in heaven

They could feel something closing in, a presence hunting them. Panic surged through their veins as they bolted from the college, heart pounding, feet barely touching the ground. Desperation led them to the old, abandoned shrine, seeking refuge. But as they stepped inside, a strange man with a sinister air emerged from the shadows. His unsettling appearance sent a chill down their spine, forcing them to change course.

Without thinking, they darted into the dark, dense forest, their breath ragged, fear fueling their every step. They threw themselves behind a cluster of jagged stones, trembling as the relentless, bone-chilling roar drew nearer. The sound hovered close, lingering by the rocks, as if whatever was chasing them was just a heartbeat away. And then, suddenly, it faded into the distance.

For what felt like an eternity, they stayed frozen, huddled in place, not daring to move, every nerve on edge. Half an hour passed, but they couldn’t shake the feeling that something was still out there, waiting.

Neil: “I think it’s gone.”

Litu: “I think so too.”

Abhi: “Let’s go.”

Neil: “Where?”

Litu: “I don’t think we’ll make it home tonight. Let’s stay here till morning, then leave.”

Abhi: “We can’t stay in there.”

Neil: “Guys, we can stay in the shrine.”

Abhi: “Shrine? Are you out of your mind?”

Litu: “No, I think we’d rather deal with that man than this creature.”

Neil: “Finally, you agree on one thing.”

Abhi: “Okay, but we’ll scope it out first and then talk to the man.”

Neil: “Fine by me.”

Litu: “Let’s go.”

Outside the shrine, Neil circled the perimeter, while Litu found a cave-like storeroom. There was no sign of the man.

Neil: “This place is mysterious. I can’t find that guy.”

Abhi: “Me neither.”

Litu: “Same here. But I found a cave. It’s more like a storeroom; we can stay there.”

Abhi: “Shall we light a fire?”

Litu: “Are you an idiot? We almost died, we have no idea what’s after us, and you want a fire?”

Abhi: “If you’ve got any bright ideas, share them. No need to get mad at me.”

Neil: “Abhi, I’m hungry too. Do you have anything?”

Abhi: “Of course, darling.”

Neil: “Seriously?”

Abhi: “Yeah, I’ve got chips and bread.”

Neil: “Nice!”

Litu: “Fine, let’s make a fire.”

Abhi: “There you go!”

The Adventures of Neil and Litu S1:EP3

Episode 3: Death

Litu realized that he was in a serious mess. Being a science student, these things made him think deeply. In the morning, he planned to go check out the mysterious creature or thing from another world. Thoughts of this, coupled with worrying about Neil, made it difficult for him to sleep. Not wanting to drag Abhi into this mess, he decided not to tell him. As Litu's anxiety grew, his body temperature began to rise again. He texted Neil, but the messages only showed a single tick, leaving him in anxious anticipation for the long night to end. Each tick of the clock only added to his panic.

The next morning, Neil called Litu, “What happened, bro? You texted me like a hundred times. Is everything okay?”

Litu: “Where are you?”

Neil: “I’m still out. I’ll be back home this afternoon.”

Litu: “Okay! Come back carefully. Call me immediately when you reach home.”

Neil: “What happened? Tell me.”

Litu: “Just come home. We’ll talk about it then. Okay, bye.”

In the afternoon, at 3:15 PM:

Neil: “What happened? You look pale.”

Litu: “I’m going to show you something. Don’t panic, I’m with you, okay?”

Neil: “What are you talking about?”

Litu: “Just look at these photos.”

Neil first looked surprised, then shocked, and finally excited. Seeing the sparkle in Neil’s eyes, Litu said, “Listen, vampire freak, this is real. You need to deal with this, and your life might be in danger.”

Neil: “There goes my weekend.”

Litu: “Are you even listening?”

Neil: “Yeah, I got it—danger and all. Let’s go there and find out.”

Litu: “We’ll go, but hold your horses. What kind of trouble have I gotten into?”

The Mist ....

Outside the college gate:

Neil, Litu, and Abhi were standing together. Litu had a bag full of religious items, Abhi had a bag full of snacks, and Neil held a torch. Wait, what? Anyway.

Litu: “Why did you call Abhi?”

Neil: “Come on! He’s a member of the team.”

Litu: “I know, but why put his life in danger?”

Abhi: “Danger? My life? He said your life is at stake!”

Litu: “What?”

Neil: “Shut up! If anything happens, we’ll handle it together.”

Litu: “That’s what I’m afraid of.”

Neil: “Nothing will happen. Let’s go.”

They reached the benches, and Abhi sat down on one.

Litu: “Are you mad?”

Abhi: “What?”

Litu: “Anything could happen!”

Abhi: “Should I stop breathing?”

Neil: “Guys, we’re on a mission. Let’s stay focused.”

Litu: “He’s in a different world now. Your life is in serious danger. You might die, you know that, right?”

Neil smiled and said, “Only Abhi dies in my dreams, okay? Chill.”

Litu: “This isn’t funny.”

Abhi: “Why do you always kill me in your dreams?”

Neil: “I don’t do it intentionally; it just happens. And I don’t kill you; the villain does.”

Abhi: “Yeah, but it’s your dream. So technically, you killed me.”

Litu: “If you guys don’t stop, I’ll kill you both.”

Neil: “That’s not gonna work. I have an idea. Let’s call that thing.”

Litu: “How?”

Abhi: “Why?”

Neil: “I’ve seen it in movies; they go like, ‘You bad soul, contact us.’”

Litu: “This is stupid. And if we call it bad, it definitely won’t do any good.”

Neil: “As if it will if we call it good. And how do we even know it’s a soul?”

Abhi: “Let’s try it then.”

Litu: “Wait! Let me get some religious stuff out of the bag.”

Neil: “What if it’s an atheist?”

Abhi: “Good point.”

Litu: “Then we’re dead!!!”

Suddenly, Neil shouted, “Hey! Bad soul, contact us!” several times.

Litu: “We’re all going to die.”

Neil: “Nothing’s happening!”

Then they heard a cracking sound from a branch of a tree just above their heads. They were so terrified that they couldn’t even look up. When they heard it again, they finally looked up. What they saw was enough to make them realize the trouble they were in—a shadowy, black creature with glowing eyes was staring at them. Then it jumped towards them. Their entire lives flashed before their eyes, and everything went white as mist.
