Memories are precious but they live in the past. Some memories might break us but in the end, it's the good stuff that stays. Moving forward may be difficult for some time but steps matter, it should be small but never backward. Only you need a heart that will to end the barrier. And that might be difficult to find.

16th April 2016,

"Oye, KK!!! Wait!!!" Nile said.

"Hurry up!! We are already running one hour late." Kartik said.

"Chill dude! It's our farewell. It's our right to come late." Nile said and jumped on the bike.

"Time bomb is waiting for us. I gonna tell her you are the lazy one." Kartik said.

"Me!! Us!! My KK!! Us." Nile said.

"This time I'm not gonna take any blame." Kartik said.

"Bro!!!!" Nile said.

"What did you just say?" Kartik chuckled.

"Buddy ...." Nile said.

"Better. You can call me bro. I don't mind. I mean, in a good way. Obviously." Kartik said.

"Shut up! And drive." Nile said.

"And by the way, Shivani is gonna kill you." Kartik said.

"This time, it's not my fault. Private farewell is Arjun's idea." Nile said.

"Well! I'm gonna enjoy it very much." Kartik said.

"Yeah! Yeah!" Nile said. (Sarcasm)

At the party,

"The Assassin", Kartik said.

"What?" They both said looking at each other.

"Exactly, what the hell is this?" Avantika said.

"The Assassin. My a**" Avantika said.

"Language!!!" They both said (Kartik and Nile).

"Change the name, otherwise I'm not going in." Avantika said.

"Are you crazy? It's awesome." They both said (Kartik and Nile).

"What?" Avantika roared.

"We mean awesomely terrible. And we're already late. So we can't change it now." Nile said.

"Why are you guys always so late? Look at me, have you ever seen a girl this punctual?" Avantika said.

"Actually. Yes! My sister, Shivani." Kartik said.

"So it must be her idea." Avantika said.

"It's Arjun. Your psycho lover." Nile said.

"I only know, one psycho (Shivani) here." Avantika said.

"That's why I don't like you." Nile said.

"Shut up, guys. Don't start again." Kartik said.

"Nile!!!" Arjun said.

"Arjun! My bro." Nile hugged him.

"What are you guys waiting for? Come in." Arjun said.

"We can't." Nile said.

"What? Why?" Arjun said.

"Miss Avantika doesn't like the title 'The Assassin' so ...." Nile said.

"I'll change it immediately." Arjun said and They (Kartik and Nile) laughed.

"Yeah! Take out that and put it into your ...." Kartik stopped Avantika from completing the sentence and drag her in.

"Put it where?" They laughed.

"I'll change it immediately." They chuckled.

"Avantika!!!" Neha called. (Avantika's best friend)

"Thank God! Let's go, these guys making me crazy." Avantika hugged Neha and they left.

"We! Anyway! Where is Shivani?" Nile said.

"Help yourself." Kartik said and leaves too. 

"Idiot!" Nile said.

"Why isn't she picking up my calls?" Nile talks to himself. And all of a sudden, a hand taps on his shoulder.

"Are you looking for me?" Shivani said.

His eyes are stunned by the glazing beauty of her, his voice choked to utter a single word, and his legs froze there as if the world stopped moving.

"What?" Shivani said.

"Ahh ... You look ...." He stunned.

"What?" She asked.

"Beautiful. As always." Nile blushed.

"Hmm. Anything else." She said.

"I love the way you looked at my eyes. It skips my heartbeat." He said.

She comes closer and looks straight into his eyes.

"You look so adorable with these glasses." Nile said.

"Stop it. It's enough." Shivani turned pink.

"Now, come with me. I've something to show you." Shivani dragged Nile.

("Maybe there is an empty page.")

"Where are we going? Are we leaving the party?" Nile said.

"No! Just going for a small round trip." Shivani said.

"I found a very beautiful and ancient fountain near in the wood." She said.

"Woods?" Nile said.

"Yes! Why? Are you scared?" Shivani said.

"No! But what is this place?" Nile asked.

"I'm not so sure, but it has been closed for over 20 years." Shivani said.

"How do you know?" Nile asked.

"Arjun said. Well! While decorating, Aditi found a very old map. And I was so curious to know where it leads. So here we are." Shivani said as they reached the fountain.

"It's beautiful."

"Is that a fairy on the top?" Nile said.

"Hmm" Shivani said.

"And it's old and broken as well." Nile said.

"But very fascinating." He said.

"No! It's not that broken. It's a peaceful art and also hidden from the world." Shivani said with sparkling eyes.

"Well! My peace is you." Nile said.

"You and your pick-up lines." Shivani said.

"Now! Make a wish." Shivani said.

"Are you serious?" Nile said.

"Don't tell me you drag me all the way just to make a wish." Nile said.

"No! I just want to show you this." She justified.

"Really!!" Nile chuckled.

"Now! Please make a wish." Shivani said.

"Okay! I wish to be hugged by you. Now!" Nile said.

"What? Why are you staring at me with this adorably beautiful face? I can wish for anything." Nile blushed.

"You are such a baby." Shivani said.

"You know what? I'm thinking about when I'll get that hug." Nile said.

"Such a baby." Shivani said and hugged Nile.

"You know what I will wish for? I wish to get your smell like this everyday." Nile whispered in her ears. 

"And I wish to die in your arms." Shivani said. (still hugging)

 Well! There are a few things in our lives that we don't want to lose, even if it's best for us. It's just that we're so stubborn to accept the reality that it makes us blind. Because we want that thing to be real so badly that we ignore the truth. Or we just deny the fact that isn't what it looks like. And that's where the biggest mistake of our lives takes place. And by the time we realise, it was already too late for us. It's like sailing a boat into the storm far away from the shore. But we need to sail out.

14th April 2022,

Earlier that day, 

Cell phone rings. 

"I need to see Nile." Avantika said. 

Call declines.

The cell phone again rings.

"Please, it's urgent. I know what I did is wrong and I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything I did. Please, help me." Avantika cried.

"He is there, where we left him two years ago." 

"Don't go alone, take Kartik with you." Stranger said.

Call declines.

Outside the apartment no.22, 

"Thanks, Kartik." Avantika said.

"You go in, I'll stay here." Kartik said.

As soon as Nile see a face.

"Get out", Nile said.

"Is that how you treat a friend after a long year?" Avantika replied.

"What do you want?" Nile said.

"Do you think I'm here because I need something?" Avantika said.

"Then what else you are here for?" Nile said.

"Nile! I'm here for you." Avantika said.

"Oh! The kindness. This is why you are here, to show your pity, your greatness." Nile said.

"Door's that way. And I'm not buying any." Nile said.

"Nile! Stop pushing away. It's been years." Avantika said.

Current time,

"I love you and I always will." She confessed.

"Listen! Stay back. You will find only flames in here." Nile whispered.

"Nile. Please!" She begged.

"I don't want to see your face, get out of my sight." Nile raged.

"I can't." She pleaded.

"If you have one percent of self-respect left in you then please go away." Nile raged.

"I am not leaving." She replied.

"Kartik!!!! Get her out before I burn down this place." Nile screamed in her face.

Kartik comes in and takes her out. He doesn't even dare to look into my eyes.

"I've told you, he won't listen." 

"And stop wasting your tears on him. He doesn't care anymore." Kartik said.

"I love him." Avantika said.

"I know. But you need to understand he isn't that person we knew." Kartik said.

"We have to save him." Avantika said.

"We can't save the one who doesn't want to be saved." Kartik said.

"We can't leave him like this, he is our friend." Avantika said.

"He may look like our friend, but he isn't. He is consumed by the darkness. He can't be saved." He said.

"I can't believe, you gave up." Avantika said.

"Some things need to be left as they are." He said.

"You are not seeing this now, because you're in love with him. But the person in that room is a monster. And loving him is a curse." Kartik said.

"Kartik, he is your best friend. How can you say that?" Avantika said.

"Yeah! He was once. And I gave up on him a long ago, and on us too." Kartik said.

"And now I gave up on myself. I'm moving to Kolkata, leaving this place, this town, these people, everything behind." Kartik said.

"Why are you doing this? What are you guys up to? This is .... This isn't right." Avantika stammered.

"Goodbye, stay in touch." he said and started walking.

"Kartik!!!!" She shouted.

"I'm sorry." He turned and replied.

"Waah! Good. The best."

"No, don't stop, keep walking."

"Run! Run as fast as you can. He is running from the reality in there and you are running from us. You both are the same."

"And what's about me? Am I nothing to her?"

"Perfect! No, it's perfect. Go and hide your dead bodies. Go!!!" Avantika screamed.

"I'm sorry." 

"You may call me a loser. But I can't take it any longer. I need to leave."

"Yeah! I'm selfish. But I need to heal myself." Kartik said and leave.
